In
the morning excursion to: -
Elephanta
Caves: A must for any visitor to India. Mute testimony of
the Golden Age in Indian history during the Gupta period
and built to honour Lord Shiva. Elephanta is a 3 kms long
elongated island, consisting of two hills separated by a
valley. The caves with rock-cut figures and carvings are
believed to be carved by the sculptors of Ajanta or Udayagiri.
City
Tour: Tour includes a visit the Gateway of India-erected
to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary
in 1911; Prince of Wales Museum, Jehangir Art Gallery, Marine
Drive, Chowpatty beach, Hanging Gardens and the Crawford
Market.

03 Mumbai - Aurangabad |

Caves: 29 Kms. north-west of Aurangabad lie the west facing
caves-best to be visited in the afternoon. These caves relate

(Cave 13 to 29) and Jainism (Cave 30 to 34).

Ajanta
Caves: 109 Kms. north - east of Aurangabad, the Ajanta Caves
were discovered by the British maneuvering troops in 1819.
They consist of 24 monasteries and 5 temples, some of which
are over 2000 years old. The story of Lord Buddha is depicted
in the frescoes with remarkable vividly.

Khajuraho
city : Founded in the 9th and 10th century by the rulers
of Chandela Dynasty, Influenced by tantrism, in which eroticism
becomes a theme of philosophical interest and the aim is
sublimation of sexual relationship in the sexual act or
“Maithun”. Women are being regarded as the incarnation
of the divine energy or “Shakti”. It is also
possible that the carvings of Khajuraho were influenced
by “Kama Sutra”, the famous treatise on erotic
arts written by Vatsyayana in the time of the Guptas. Visit
the Eastern and Western Temples.

in the morning enjoy boat cruise on the holy river Ganges
where you will pass by the burning and the bathing ghats

known as the monkey temple on account of the large number
of monkeys residing there and the Temple of Vishwanath (or

Sarnath:
10 Kms. from the centre of the city, Sarnath symbolises
the birth of Buddhism. It was here that Buddha revealed
his doctrine and founded his monastic community. The museum
at Sarnath is amongst the most important in India and contains
carvings representing a whole range of styles- Archaic,
the Mathura School, Gupta, past Gupta and Medival- covering
work of sculptors from the 3rd century B.C. to the 12th
century AD.

Delhi : An ancient walled city. Here you will see Red Fort,
the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire: Raj
Ghat, the memorial site of the Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid,
the largest mosque in India; and Chandni Chowk, the bustling
and colourful market of the old city.
